Betty Ann Evans Harvard Newton, Texas 1944 - 2024

A Celebration of Betty Ann Evans Havard’s Life, age 79, of Newton, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at Brookeland Cemetery in Brookeland, Texas.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

Betty died on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at her home in Newton, Texas.

A native of Jasper, Texas, Betty was raised in Brookeland and resided in Newton, Texas since 1974.  She was a member of Faith Chapel in Newton and a hairdresser in Kirbyville at the Main Event. Betty enjoyed cooking, growing flowers, traveling and fishing, as long as her husband James would bait the hook.  Most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of over sixty years, James Havard of Newton, Texas; son, Michael Havard of Newton, Texas; daughter, Shelly Williams and husband Jimmy, Jr., of Newton, Texas; brother, Terry Evans and wife Sally of Newton, Texas and two sisters, Sherry Havard and Diane Walker, both of Newton, Texas; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.B. and Myrtice Evans; son, James “Jim” Havard, Jr. and brother, Lyndon Evans.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2909 W. Holcombe, Houston, Texas, 77025.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
