16-year-old Jerome JJ Rambo was shot to death on November 10th at the Elam Event Center in Newton County
Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said today that interviews are still being conducted in relation to the November 10th homicide at the Elam Event Center.
Burby added that there are persons of interest that have been identified and that he hopes charges will follow soon. He is still asking for anyone with information or video footage related to the shooting to contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

16-year-old Jerome "JJ" Rambo was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Newton County
The family of the teen who was shot and killed in Newton County at the Elam Event Center early Sunday morning has come forward.
The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Jerome "J.J." Rambo, who was a freshman at Burkeville High School.
Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said that investigators were at the center Monday scouring the scene for evidence. As of Monday evening, no arrests have been made.

Newton County investigates an early morning homicide.
Sunday morning at approximately 3:55, the Newton County Sheriff's Office Dispatcher received a call regarding a male, name unknown who was shot at the Elam Event Center location on U.S. Hwy 190 East in Newton unincorporated city limits.
Deputies responded to the scene at 4:13 am to investigate. The victim was accessed at the scene by Allegiance EMS personnel and transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
The victim was pronounced dead at 4:54 am. This is a current Homicide Investigation, and no suspects are in custody at this time. We are still actively working the crime scene, gathering information and talking to witnesses.
