The surge of gulf moisture, responsible for the wet weather, is slowly moving west away from the area as a drier air mass begins moving into the area from the east.
Lower chances are forecast Thursday with a 20-30% coverage of mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Mainly hot and dry on Friday with a 20% coverage expected Saturday.
Sunday, a weak surge of gulf moisture will arrive resulting in a 30% coverage of showers and thunderstorms.
Monday and Tuesday next week look hot and mainly dry with highs inching upwards.
By next Wednesday, no rain is forecast with highs in the middle 90s.

Quiet weather is forecast in the SW Atlantic, gulf and Caribbean for the foreseeable future. High amounts of Saharan Dust are helping which indicates drier air aloft stifling storm formation.

The surge of gulf moisture (green) in the middle levels is slowly moving west out of the area. Drier air aloft (brown) will move into Southeast Texas from the east cutting rain chances Thursday through Saturday.
