Newton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 87 North at 4:40 this evening.
The accident was approximately 1/2 MI from the intersection, behind City Hall in Newton .
Chief William Jackson said that the driver was Dennis "DJ" Cooper Jr of Newton. He was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
The cause is under investigation at this time and the extent of injuries are unknown.
