Woman accused of pouring gasoline on a Newton man and setting him on fire, has been arrested

NEWTON, TX-
The Newton County Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made after someone poured gasoline on 33-year-old Marlin Forward of Newton, and set him on fire.
39-year-old Lakeisha Marie Owoigbe, was arrested in Lufkin Thursday, and was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Her bond was set at $100,000.
A family member told NCD that Forward is still in stage one of his recovery and has to travel to the Galveston Burn Unit once a week for treatment.

Newton Police were called out Tuesday evening at around 4:30 pm to 105 Forward Street regarding a disturbance that had become extremely violent.
According to Newton Police Chief Will Jackson, the disturbance ended after someone poured gasoline on a man and set him on fire.
Jackson said that the victim was identified as 33-year-old Marlin Forward of Newton. Forward was airlifted to the burn center in Galveston. His condition is currently unknown.
Jackson said that there is no additional information available and no suspect at this time. The case is still under investigation
