NEWTON COUNTY, TEXAS - Levi Hopson, of Newton, harvested an 8-point buck with his 7mm Magnum on opening weekend, at their hunting club “Hurricane Creek Hunting Club” in north Newton County

Little brother, Liam Hopson, also of Newton, brought in his very first buck, a4-point cull buck, using his 7mm-08.
Liam’s buck had an unbranched antler which made it a cull buck and Liam was hunting in his own stand for the first time and was able to make the decision on his own to harvest the cull. Great job, Liam.

Mom, Holly Hopson, of Newton, enjoyed hunting in her own stand this year; and was able to harvest a hog.
“ They’ve never seen mama hunt by herself. I think they were more excited than I was when they saw the hog. They all heard me shoot, so when it was time to get off of the stand yesterday evening, they all came to my stand to check on me. They were pretty impressed that I hit the mark. I figured pork would go well with their venison in sausage, so I couldn’t pass it up. I guess mama’s still got it! “
