NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — The Newton County Auditor’s Office has added a new face to its team. On Tuesday morning, Dawn Pearl was officially sworn in as an Assistant Auditor inside the District Courtroom, marking a significant step for the county’s financial oversight operations.

Commissioner Powell, who was present for the ceremony, congratulated Pearl and noted that the Auditor’s Office “just got really strong” with her addition to the team.

In addition to the swearing-in, Precinct 4 crews had a busy week across the county:

  • Completed two drainage projects in Deweyville and Gist.

  • Bladed several county roads.

  • Continued boom mowing in the Deweyville and Hartburg areas.

  • Removed two dangerous trees on CR4203 and cleared a fallen tree in the Pocket, with debris cleanup scheduled for next week.

Residents can contact Commissioner Powell’s office at 409-960-2940 with precinct-related concerns.
