Newton County Sheriff’s Office:
Newton Pursuit:
On Saturday, August 23, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy C.J. Forsythe was standing outside the Newton County Sheriff’s Office when he observed a white Ford F-250 run the stop sign at the intersection of Rusk and Court Streets. Deputy Forsythe observed the vehicle almost run into Stellar Bank before making a turn onto Main Street. The driver of the white Ford F-250 stopped in the middle of Main Street in front of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and began honking the horn. As Deputy Forsythe walked up to the vehicle to check on the welfare of the driver, the vehicle sped off toward S Loop 505. Deputy Forsythe got into his patrol vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the white Ford F-250, however, the driver turned onto Wiess Street and then east on US 190, fleeing Deputy Forsythe in the opposite lane of travel at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
The driver of the vehicle finally stopped on US 190 near County Road 4002, Deputy Forsythe made contact with the driver, who was identified as Caiden Joseph Walker. Walker refused to get out of the vehicle and was eventually forcefully removed and placed under arrest.
Deputy Forsythe placed Walker in his patrol unit and began speaking with Officer Kevin McGarrahan of the Newton Police Department, who arrived on the scene to assist. As the two were talking, Walker was able to open the door of the patrol unit and exit the vehicle. Walker took several steps away from the patrol unit and was subsequently taken back into custody.

Walker was transported to the Newton County Jail, where he was charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle (F3), resist arrest, search or transportation (MA) and escape from custody (F3).
