NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — Newton County Judge Ronnie Cochran has announced his intention to seek re-election. His full statement to the citizens of Newton County reads as follows:
Friends and Neighbors of Newton County,
Today, with gratitude and determination, I am proud to announce my intention to seek re-election as your Newton County Judge.
Serving the people of Newton County has been one of my life’s greatest honors. This is my home, where my roots are planted, surrounded by strong families in resilient communities that always pull together no matter what.
Over the past term, I’ve worked hard to keep my word and deliver real results.
I campaigned on a simple but powerful promise: no more hours-long wait times for emergency ambulance services in Newton County, wait times that often came during the worst moment in a family’s life, when their loved one’s life was hanging in the balance. I kept that promise with the creation of Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 6, Newton County will have reliable ambulance coverage in early 2026, so when seconds matter most, you can know that someone is coming to help.
I am also very proud of the work we have done to erect a new radio tower in South Newton County, giving our sheriff’s office and deputies the communication tools they need to protect our community. I am proud of the progress made, but our work isn’t finished. In the days ahead, we face new challenges whether it be searching out new financial or educational opportunities or protecting our natural resources, with a heavy emphasis on our water rights, for the benefit of all of Newton County citizens.
I’m asking once again for your trust and support as we continue this work together. My promise is simple: to lead with honesty, to fight for Newton County’s future, and to always put the needs of our people first.
Together, with faith, grit, and determination, we can build a stronger and brighter future for Newton County.
Thank you and may God continue to bless Newton County and each of you.
Sincerely,
Ronnie Cochran Newton County Judge
