NEWTON, Texas — Citizens in the northern part of Newton County may notice a fresh set of wheels on patrol — and a familiar face behind the wheel. Deputy Sonny White is now cruising the county roads in a brand-new patrol vehicle, thanks to recent upgrades approved by the Newton County Commissioner’s Court.
After months of planning and waiting on back-ordered equipment, the first of several newly approved patrol units has been officially up-fitted and is ready for service. The update comes as part of a much-needed replacement effort, prompted by aging, high-mileage vehicles that had seen years of service.
“We really appreciate the Commissioner’s Court for their support of public safety,” Sheriff Colton Havard said.

While more upgraded vehicles are expected to follow, this one is special — not just because it’s the first off the line, but because it’s assigned to Deputy White, a trusted and familiar presence in the north end of the county. His new ride may shine a little brighter, but the service remains just as steady.
Residents are encouraged to give a wave or a thumbs-up when they see Deputy White out and about in the new unit — just one more example of how Newton County continues to invest in safety, service, and community.
