The Newton County Revitalization Group (NRG) is gearing up for a fun and festive presence during Newton's Homecoming 2024 on September 28. In collaboration with the Newton Garden Club, the Powell Hotel Garden area will be transformed with seasonal décor, including scarecrows, hay bales, and fall-themed backdrops—perfect for family photos. The Newton Garden Club will also be selling large mums in the garden space, while NRG will be on hand to welcome visitors and encourage them to take photos.
As part of the festivities, NRG will host a silent auction featuring the much-anticipated AMAZING CAKES fundraiser. These delicious, extravagantly decorated cakes—baked by local talent—will be available for silent bidding inside the Historic Powell Hotel. The more creatively decorated, the better!
Miss Newton 2024, Madelyn Foster, will serve as the morning docent on Friday, September 27, 2024, accepting cakes for the auction. She’ll also be photographed with each cake for social media postings to generate excitement and boost bidding.
We invite you to join in the festivities by supporting local organizations and taking part in this fun event at the Historic Powell Hotel. The hotel will serve as the welcome center during the 2024 Homecoming, offering refreshments and air conditioning for all visitors.
