DEWEYVILLE, TX-
A good Samaritan happened to be passing by a canal coming off the Sabine River in Deweyville Monday, when he noticed a man semi-submerged, and barely breathing. He quickly called 911.
Newton County Pct 4 Constable Howie Wonders said that his office and the Newton County Sheriff’s Office were called onto the scene where they assisted the Deweyville Volunteer Fire Dept in the water rescue.
The man was successfully rescued from the canal and after some first aid, became awake and alert. He was then flown to an area hospital for treatment.
To the good Samaritan and all those on the scene who saved this man's life, great job! You are all heroes!
