Kinney sentenced to 40 years in Baxter murder

Russell Kinney of Vidor was set to stand trial for murder in October of this year for the March 2023 death of 45-year-old wheelchair bound, Jenny Baxter, also of Vidor.

Kinney was facing up to 99 years in prison had the case gone to trial, however, on Monday, Kinney changed his plea to guilty. Judge Rex Peveto in the 163rd District Court instead sentenced Kinney to 40 years.

As we reported last year, Baxter was the daughter of beloved columnist and Radio Personality, Gordon Baxter who died in 2005.

Jenny's body was found by her friend, Brandy Hill in March of 2023 when she became concerned that she hadn't heard from Jenny for some time.

Baxter's body was found wrapped in plastic and stuffed under her bed at the Denbow Mobile Home Park.
